Our People and Aircraft

The true strength of the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation is its membership. We are a unique blend of military combat veterans and civilian enthusiasts and supporters. Because of the AAHF’s diversity, we can field our own mechanics, crew chiefs, pilots, and ground support staff and mobilize a well-organized and practiced team to take the story of America’s military heritage to anywhere in the United States.

Our membership is an unprecedented gathering of American military history. Numerous members have served in combat in Vietnam, and Desert Storm. Membership in the AAHF offers a unique opportunity for fellowship with other veterans and a rare chance for civilians to meet and know their soldiers as men and women.

The Army Aviation Heritage Foundation also represents a unique and significant collection of over 20 rare, flyable fully-restored historic Army aircraft. For example, the AAHF has the only known flyable OV-1B Mohawk in the world. Our TAH-1P Cobra, CV-2 Caribou, and UH-1M Huey are other unique historical Army Aviation aircraft in the AAHF inventory. Many of our aircraft have actual combat experience. Several of our members also flew the AAHF’s exact aircraft in combat.

The Army Aviation Heritage Foundation has already reached over 5.1 million people with the story of our Country’s military heritage. We have performed at many of the Nation’s most popular and well-attended air shows, receiving accolades for the realism, quality, and power of our patriotic programs.

We have been featured on the Discovery Wings television program, SpeedVision, ESPN, and PBS. We have also been published multiple times in aviation, military, and veteran magazines.

In 2001, the U.S. Army Branch nominated the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation for the Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher Humanitarian Award, the top award given to by the Secretary of Defense to the civilian organization that has done the most to support the military and foster patriotism.
