Established July 1, 2026, the Tar Heel Chapter of the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation and Flying Museum is located at Moore County Airport in North Carolina, near Fort Bragg and one of the nation’s most historic Army communities. The Tar Heel Chapter is home to an operational AH-1F Cobra and UH-1H Huey and is currently restoring an OH-6 Loach. These aircraft and our chapter volunteers support the Foundation’s mission of preserving and presenting the story of Army Aviation through Living History Flight Experiences, public appearances, educational outreach, aircraft restoration, and static displays. Our volunteers include veterans, aviators, maintainers, aviation professionals, history enthusiasts, and community members who share a commitment to keeping Army Aviation history alive for future generations. The Tar Heel Chapter is actively welcoming new volunteers. Aviation or military experience is valuable, but not required. If you are interested in becoming part of the mission, please contact us for more information.
